I'm teaching a new subject this year.
I want to teach the Odyssey, using the Fagles translation.
I wish for the $$$ to buy several dozen.

For clarification: I'm teaching Ninth Grade Language Arts. I taught summer school English twice, but never for the whole year.
I have limited resources AND I'm the new kid on a very established block. It may be a while before I can get new books.

Robert Fagles translated it in 1990 and did a beautiful job of it. The prose and manner of speaking is true to the old Greeks but makes it easier for the mid to high school student to read and understand.

Yes into English.

Robert Fagles has a lovely translation that's engaging and readable.
When you think about it, that was a neat trick for something as old as a Greek epic.

Oh, The Odyssey as in "The Iliad and The Odyssey", I thought it was teacher speak for some sort of teaching program. Those teacher companies are always naming things in weird ways!

I understand what she is talking about now.

I loved all those Greek Epics. I've read many of them, even some of the ones that aren't so popular.
