Let me know what hatches. Have you candled them at all?

Yes I did candel them, They all look good. One of my eggs hatched today 2 days early. It looks ok, I have it in the brooder with sugar -vitamen water and baby chick food. My grandson is spending all his time watching the chick. He told me if I would turn the fan off I could here it peep.

I am glad you are still here too Lisa. I am glad you found Oak Hill Hatchery. I thought they were super nice too. Isn't it great you don't have to ship them because they are so close to us. I am going to be placing my next order with them for Cornish X that I want to pick up right after Labor Day. I think about 20 this time. These could be hard to hide Lisa, they get big so fast! lol

No website. This is just a small family operation. They get their pullets that are ordered from Hoover. They drive up and pick them up and then they are close enough to us that we pick them up the same day they get them. They hatch their Cornish X.

Oak hill does have a web sight. I typed in Oak hill hatchery and there they are.

Do the cornish get big fast? I did not order cornish X, just full blood cornish. I was not sure?? I want them for breeding to raise fryers. The X chickens do not always make good breeders. I think that the cornish get big fast but not as fast as cornish X.

I am also getting the orpington eggs from someone on BYH. I am so happy , I have always wanted orpingtons. but never had any. She is shiping them out tomorow.

The company that my husband works for went out of buisness. In the past that kind of problem would have devastated me. It did not bother me this time. When you get older I guess you realize that what will be will be. I have been feeling better for 2 weeks now, so I am going back to work ( cleaning houses ) . Yippeeeee Lisa

Lisa can you give a link to the Oak Hill Hatchery? I have never found anything other than their name, address and phone number.

Also Iowa people... I have been following several different topics on here lately on feed. The latest one is about Purnina feed. What are all of you feeding your flocks? Mine can't free range other than their little run and what I pull and pop in the coop. I have pullets from 12 to 9 weeks. I also have 2 Muscovy ducklings. My closest coop doesn't have unmedicated chick feed, they don't have flock raiser either. I would like to be able to feed all the pullets the same thing. What are all of you feeding your flocks?

I am feeding a feed called extra egg - can't remember who makes it. Was feeding layena and the chick starter. Then since everyone was all together I was using flock raiser, but my egg eaters started back up. I think it was the lower protien.

Went back to extra egg since the birds free range (sort of) and the chicks were all older.

Everyone seems healthy except for one of my gold comets. Not sure what is wrong with her.

Hi everyone

Stephanie 2 of your brown eggs hatched. 2 little black chicks They are fat and happy. 7 of my 10 leg horn X eggs hatched. That is it for now.

I do not feed my chickens any medicated feed or hormones. I feed them oats, corn, coastl poultry shell, and Home multi flock pelets. I give them all the table scraps and they free range.

My 2 laying hens have decided to hide there eggs from me. They are leg horns ( not broody) . So i guess they will have to stay in the chicken house. I am really mad at them!

I am canning corn today. I did not grow the corn. you can buy it by the bag full real cheap now. You should be able to find some near you. I got mine in Greenfield across from Dallor General. It is VERY GOOD.

I would send a picture of the baby chicks but I dont know how. I am not computer literate. haha - lisa
