The new laying hens are calming down. They are free ranging today for the first time ( here anayway ). Chubby came out of the hen house today for the first time. She is a little nerves but seems to be ajusting. I fed poofy by hand this morning. She just sits on the roost. The blues are all doing good. They got to stinky for the kitchen. ( my hubby is a saint he never said a word ) I moved them to the basement today. But I was able to tame them the 1 week that they were in the kitchen. That was my goal...

Sounds like all of you are doing good.

I will try to go to the auction in Oceola, maybe I will see some of you there.

I do not need any more banties, I do enjoy poofy though. She is pretty and sweet. I cant wait for my grandkids to meet her. They will love her. They ( the Grandkids ) each have a rabbit at my house. Now they will want poofy!

Yes I have chickens close in size to poofy. I have yong chickens in the hen house growing up all year round. My chickens rang in size from less than a pound to 12 pounds. They all get along well. The 2 little leghorn hens are the boss they order everyone around. My hubby and I love to watch them, a little 4 pound hen telling a 12 pound roo when and were he can eat. The hens are older. I guess that is why the roos let them by with that.

Thats too bad about the Blue. We will have a few extras. the ones here are all fine and getting larger white areas. Got some good looking Buttercup chicks if you're interested.... Can tell boys from girls now in the older ones.

Lisa;
It will take Poofy awhile to adjust. She was with her same sized posse here. But she will love the attention of the Grandkids!
Glad to hear you got your kitchen back! LOL

I have recently received a PM from a person in Marion IA. Not sure where that is but I invited her to jump into the thread. She is looking for some rare breed large fowl.
Wish i could picture a 12 lb. chicken on my table!

W/o it's clothes on.

Marion is close to me! About 20 minutes away, actually. I currently have some Welsummer chicks, that's about it for large fowl that is rare breed.

Eric - is one of the chicks you sent me an ostrich? It is like three times bigger than the other three.
They are quite flighty at this point and NONE of mine have white on them - wat up with that homey?

I will be working on taming them down.

IF I can get the whole house clean (including some major stuff in the basement) I think I will talk Mike into going to that auction.

They have seramas but I'm going to be picky about them and hope that they have some good pullets.

Trish; I will drop her a PM and let her know. I know she said she had 1 Chantecler rooster that she said was pretty spoiled and lonely!

I sure hope I didn't send you the ostrich chicks, Steph, they were on loan from Africa! Maybe yours are late bloomers. They all had a little white when they left here. You suppose Lisa stopped and switched out with crow babies?
Would you like to come up and do our house too? I'd pay you in chicks.

It's 4 bedrooms, 2 and 1/2 baths, a full unfinished basement, and I just saw a centipede run up the wall, and i would stay out of your way.............. yes, no? A definite maybe?

Noahs team finished the season undefeated so we are having a holloween party on the deck, on Sat. the 29th. You're all invited! I need more decorations and extension cords! Maybe we should not clean the house, it couldn't get any creepier! I decided I am gonna dress as the Godfather. Big homburg Hat, trench kinda coat, and carry a violin case with a water gun in it. That'll keep the little creeps in line.
Some schnaaps in hot cocoa for me would be fitting. I am sure it will be cold.

Saturday is the 30th

I only know that because I am having a surgery on the 28th and that's a Thursday...

Or is that the week we skip Friday?

Where is the white on them? Mine are black with a smidge of copper/brown on their wings.

I thought you would never notice

hahahaha I have all the IA blues They sure are sweet!

Steph, remember I told you that Erick put 1 older chick in with yours. it is a week older. a week makes a big deference to a peep.. or maybe it is an Osrtich! I painted the white parts green remember!

Erick were you talking to me about cleaning? I would love to but you are TOOOO FAR.

I am goint to IA City on the 21st I hope to meet up wth apbg ( I forgot the rest ) Does any one know them. If I can get those chickens from them I think I will be in good shape with chickens. Unless a big dog gets in my hen house again.

I have met her a couple of times. She is very nice. My serama hen that got killed originally came from her.

You want to come help me clean mine?

I would rather do stuff outside!

I know that one is older by one week but HE is HUGE compared to them!
