IA here

I just sold 5 EEs and could have sold them 3 times over. I guess that's where the money is

Guess I'll have to raise my babies up and sell in the fall.

We got so many requests for pullets and hens. It's just not cost effective to raise them up to POL, then sell them. I'll be sending people to Eric for Bantam Orloff's. So if anyone has any LF birds, I'd be happy to send customers your way if you want to down size.

It seems the going rate is about $5.00 for a hatchery stock laying hen. It really should be more with what feed costs

I totally agree. Are you going to be hitting the swaps this year, Kari? You might as well, you've already delved in waist deep into the chicken world!

I should. I need someone to teach me the ropes though! Do I have to test all the birds before I come?

The weather channel is suggesting they are watching the cloud gather here over IA... could get nasty in many areas... stay tuned and keep your eye on the sky.

I'm kind of excited myself as long as no one is harmed. Headed down to my mom's house where she has 25+ acres mostly field. I love to watch a good storm from there.

Sold off the chicks I didn't want today so I just have three chicks to contend with. A new olive egger, the BCM and the other one that looks like a BCM because I didn't want to get rid of the wrong one

The feed store owner was asking me if I had hens also - seems to be a big demand for them right now.

i'm hoping to have some extra pullets in the fall. but maybe hatch out abunch in the fall for spring rush. hmm its a thought.

buy up all the decent pullets at sales for cheap. ha spring hens are always more than fall ones.

anyway sure i'll loose internet with the cloud cover. if it gets nasty stay safe.
