IA here

Early happy Easter, all! Just finished dying 5 dozen eggs. I had to buy store-bought eggs and it was like taking my blood! I can't wait til the girls start laying!!

Sorry these pics are so big. i am working with the adjustments but the adjustments are not working with me! This is the little Ameracauna. The breeder I got her from says they are real Ameracauna not EE's?? Who knows. But she is a sweet heart. The bottom pic is her with her 3 month old pen mate, a bantam Orloff. The little girl is exactly 6 months old on the 4th of April. I have called her "Crow Baby" since she was hatched. She was alway competetive and chatty, took nothing from the bigger chicks infact, she ruled the roost most times.
Am posting a few more pics also.

Craig, those are such cute little chicks! I watched a video on Youtube of a bantam Orloff mom that had 7 chicks of different sizes with her and they all walked down a long stick to leave the coop. The last one out was a little, fat, fuzzy Cochin and you wanted to reach out and grab it or help it as it figured out how to go down the stick.
Trish, here's a pic of Blue (blue splash project Maran) She's almost a hen now. Could she be shown as an SCCL rather than a Maran? I don't think she is in the bantam standard.

Here is a good looking 6 mo. old Buff Rock pullet. I think she is show worthy. The flash makes her feathers appear more uneven in color than they actually are:

And the New Hampshire Reds that are with the Buff Rock:

And a few of their chicks:

I always go overboard with every new project or hobby I unravel. We used to raise Yorkies. Don't anymore but we have plenty of them still hanging around (residual hobby). At least with chickens, if ever I can't handle it anymore, I can send them to freezer camp. ;)

She is adorable! I have my first bantam - a lavender OEG/EE - tiny thing but seems to hold his own among the giants in my flock.

LOL That's why I switched to raising chickens too! I used to raise horses. Still have 7 residuals hanging out too!

I'm thinking about taking the kids to the Waverly, IA swap this weekend. Has anyone been there? Going this weekend? Is there anything else to do in the area while we're up there?

It's funny you bring that up cause we all usually try and meet up at some point when there. This year Trish is buying everyone breakfast or lunch! Is that right trish? Just kidding. I was told we were meeting for lunch or dinner. I am not sure however if we will be able to go this year. I cancelled the rez at the hotel, but if things go right, we may go. Won't know til tomorrow.
