IA here

Unless Lisa is coming over to get some birds from you, that idea I had won't work. She just has to go straight North on 71 to get to our house.
Thats what I get for thinking again!

myep I can get your chicks for you. You are an hour drive the other way. We can make plans to meet up this weekend. I would like to go to the Stewart Sale barn on sun. They have chickens for sale. How far are you from Stewart. I should know but i dont haha... And I need to go to Troy mills WHERE IS THAT ??? I think that is Trish right.

I am also planing to go to NE IA to get some chickens from apbgv. I am hopeing to go there thu. I think it would save on gas to make 1 big trip. You might be on my way home from there I do not know IA very well. need a IA map. took me 2 days to find were Milford is.

got to go I am late to my class lisa

Eric, are you sure the Cuckoo Marans Bantams breeder wasn't from IL? There's where I got my starts, from Gary Underwood. He's the same one I got my RIR's from. His goal is to get blue's with clean legs and still keep the egg color. I have one hen that is laying at this point, as I got chicks from Gary this Spring. He started with a Cuckoo Marans rooster he got from some breeders that have the original line that was brought into the US. Then he crossed in a bantam to get the bantam gene. I only have 2nd generation. I kind of like the feathered legs. I haven't culled too heavily yet as I'm waiting to get eggs first.

If you google Troy Mills, IA, a map will come up and you will get an idea of where I'm at. I'm about 30 miles north of CR.

Sounds like your chicks can get a free ride South, Steph. If that will work, that is if you two can hook up somewhere, I'll send them along with Lisa tomorrow afternoon. You wanted 4 right? I'll find your old post to be sure. But you don't want the little cute baby?

Trish, thanks for the light info. I thought you'd have to get something like that from PETA, ACLU, SLO, or some other off breed outlet! LOL I can do Menards!
As to the Marans, it was in WI that one of the maran clubs (there are two) had a table set up and I asked the lady about bantam Marans and she said somone was working on Cuckoos and gave me the last name "Ochs", she thought it was pronounced Oaks. She had no first name or location, she just remebered that name and told me to do a google search. I know there is a lot of animosity between clubs and there members. I do not want to be involved in their politics of course, I just want to know how the project is going and who has the info. Do you think the guy in IL., would mind if I emailed him and do you have his email addy? Maybe he will be in Iowa City?

It will work for me

Isn't Free Ride a song???

How much do I owe you Eric for the chicks?

Lisa I will PM you my cell number. Not sure if you still have it or not.

So Eric - how did you violate rule number 2 - you are a bad influence on us sweet southern Iowas types!

The grand total owing is an astounding........ $14.56, and you will love them too! I'll do my best to make sure you get a split quad. One good thing is, we will all at some point be able to trade birds if we get too many of one kind. Which will not be a problem now. One person who was in, is now out. They notified me that they would be unable to take their birds so we will have plenty.
I assume that when I, and not in bad taste or slanderously, whatsoever, used the letters P*E*T*A, a red flag went up somewhere and it was taken out of context... clearly... but, some get over zealous or over excited. I will not mention the shirts I saw at the Sate Fair OR the Clay County Fair - Oh my!
I am glad you and Lisa could work out a drop of some sort. Right now they look like little blackbirds. Gonna clean the pen after yours are on their way so I can get the week olds out of the basement and in the outside brooder. Think I'll pu hat in instead of wood shavings. That will give them some good bacteria.

Okay... I GOT THE MAIL! HOORAY, YAHOO and all that jazz!!!!!!! "NUTS" Love the card, the other was totally uneccessary, but thank you. Truly, Steph, thank you and it was not necessary. I know it will go to good use. After cooping the birds on Friday, and getting back to the hotel, I am going to find the largest, coldest glass of fine adult beverage I can and sip it slowly in about 45 seconds, or less!
