Yep chick food shopping for me today too. I don't plan on traveling anywhere for the next 3 days! Those chickies sure do eat a lot these days! They have nothing to do but eat I guess, no one wants to go outside.

That's funny about the little roo and the big hen
smile.png
I have an EE that has been crowing since he was a month old and he's been hitting on the big girls lately. He's 3 months old now and they get pretty grumpy about it. The big roos hear the hens squawk and come running but by the time they get there he's gone.

Well you see Kari - he's not so little

He is as big as them body size -wise, just not filled out yet. I spent $53.85. Took Tucker puppy along for the ride - he thought I had abandoned him when I went in the store. He had his very sad face on when I came back out.

You have some GORGEOUS chickens!!

Would the chicks bond all right with Fluffy, since s/he would be so much older by then? I have two coops right now, one with older hens and one with two 12 week olds from my last hatch, and the young ones were attacked when I tried to introduce them to the older hens. Why can't they all just get along...

My husband has a path made with our tractor. I sure hope we don't get 10"!!! I'm worried about this rain and then it freezing. We're supposed to go to Horseshoe Bend tomorrow for New Year's Eve. I don't like watching my kids go down that hill for the first few times. Yikes.

I used to love to snow and water ski, and inner tubing too. I never turned down a chance to go.

Now I feel like I'm taking my life in my hands just going to a movie!

It was to the feed store for me too today. Last week Lora, picked up some feed for me but I did not specify and she got the pellets instead of the crumbles for the big birds. They hate it and just waste it. What is left I feed to the feathered chicks, the young Orloffs will eat just about anything but treats. They can't figure out what to do with a piece of apple.

So I got the stuff they like and a bag of cracked corn to make sure they stay warm at night. It's gonna get cold again.

Jeez, Eric. Do you usually get this much snow?

Sounds like we are in for more snow tomorrow. Some are saying up to 10" or more! Do you have your path cleared to the chicken house Joy? You might need to tarp it off or build an underground tunnel.....?

Thank you!

Not sure if they would bond, but it's certainly possible. I just added some Buff Orpington chicks that were feathered out to some that were about 6 weeks their senior. Haven't had any problems, but they have a big space. Just depends on their temperaments.
