about your spring cold... check with a doctor to see if it is mold or pollen allergies, they are worse in the spring/summer than winter.

I am cleaning rabbit cages today, and maybe going to thin out the strawberry patch, yeah spring!!

fingers crossed for a good hatch

It was so nice today, after I shooed the girls outside, I charged the battery on the lawn mower and back it out of the garage and hosed it off!
Then I went in the basement to find both of my Sussex chicks in bad shape. One of them is just too weak from a bad foot to go on and the other poor thing had pasty butt so bad, I don't know if it can pass whats inside it.

I am gonna attempt a gentle aspiration, but don't know if it will help. Might be too late.

You would think that things like this get easier over time but they really don't.

107 wow my bator might do 48 but hubby wood complain about the egg shortage
He did when I put 6 hens in breeder pen 'where the @$&@@&$ #%^* are the eggs.

I've thought of the allergy thing those meds don't help at all. Have a son with dust and mold worst to have in 100 yr old house next to feilds. But think tomorrow is a dr day

I have 57 set in by Genesis 1588 for Mahonri's Easter Hatch. This being my second hatch I find I am more excited than the first round! I do have them in the turner now, so it's a little easier to keep my hands to myself.

Drove to Trish's Saturday and picked up hatching eggs and a lovely year old Naraganset turkey hen. She is settling in nicely and we did get an egg from her! My slate hen started a nest in the garden a while back and has accumulated quite a nest full. I came out side early afternoon yesterday to find a trail of broken eggs back to the barn. I couldn't figure out what was going on until we saw her running by with an egg in her beak. She must have realized they weren't in a good place and started moving them. Unfortunatly, she kept dropping them in transit

At least the ones I saw did not have baby turkeys in them. Now she is confined with a new nest box and I hope she will start again.

I got up at 5am this morning and made jerrit breakfast and a lunch for his first day of work. About a half hour ago he got a call from the temp agency, from one of the guys there that started to chew him out and just being very unprofessional. Appearantly, Jerrit went to the wrong place..they told him he was and got him a ride to the right one...He worked 8 hours today and probably had only 2 hours of sleep because he couldn't get to sleep last night. The guy on the phone, very first thing he says on the phone, very loudly I could hear it across the room. "Jerrit! You really hurt my feelings." and then went on saying that jerrit lied about where he was supposed to work and other crap..which he didn't. He did NOT work at the wrong place, he also called to ask the lady WHERE the place was, he even asked if it was near some stores and all she said really was it was near railroads. Last night jerrit and his mom went out looking at where all the factories were located and several were by railroad tracks. Anyway, the guy said jerrit has been terminated from the job for lying and because he went to the wrong spot.
And idk I think an older guy that owns the temp agency used to do hiring for his parents farm..so maybe they go to him and say his staff is bad, Jerrit's dad already called the factory and told them about the situation too. Hoping it gets worked out and maybe get hired by the factory place itself.
