Yes, it was quite a shock. We do tend to get a lot of ice here....far more than snow, but NOTHING like this! I was born here and have lived in this area a good part of my 38 years and this was definitely the worst.

Getting my power back on made it much easier to keep the old chin from dragging the gorund.

Amazingly (I just can't get over this) a couple of days ago there was a problem with some people threatening the energy workers. I was in shock! There are workers here from all over the US. They left their warm homes and families to come help us. How could anyone justify threatening them???? I understand being stressed....with three kids and a ton of pets (many cold blooded) I was a little freaked out, but would never consider blaming the people trying to help!!!!

That's what I call destructive beauty... it's wonderful that you can find the beauty in it. I love the first photo. I hope things thaw out and settle down for you soon.

Most of the ice was actually gone within a couple of days. It warmed up to the 50's and it just vanished leaving what looked like a war zone behind. There is not a tree around that is not damaged or destroyed. That will seem very sad come spring.

I keep thinking things will be back to "normal" soon, then I realize they will never be truly "normal" at least not by my old standards. Though I know this could have been so much worse, it taught me a very important lesson. I tend to take far too much for granted. This has truly helped me put things in perspective a bit.
