Eggs are still going great! Hatch day is on Monday, the first! I'm starting lockdown a bit early, tomorrow night, because I'll be out of town Friday through Sunday night. It's going to drive me nuts being away from the incubator while there's probable hatching action going on in there! My mom will be home, though, so I'll have to train her in what to do just in case.

The other day when there was that crazy storm, the power went out for over an hour. When it got cold in the incubator, I did the logical thing and took the nine eggs (eight Icelandics and one serama) in bed with me and kept them as warm as I could until the power came back on.

I also brought my broody serama hen in the house but instead of doing her duties she kept picking fights with my guinea keets, eating all the Flock Raiser, and she could only fit over about five Icelandic eggs on the rare occasion that she did sit. Anyway, the power came back on fairly quickly so I don't think it did any harm. Quite a dramatic hour or two while it was out, though!

Jeeze it sounds like you had as exciting a rain day as we did here! That must have been quite a little party in your bed.

Just how much Flockraiser can a Serama eat?

I'll be crossing my fingers and toes for a good hatch for you and lots of colors. After tossing a couple of eggs with blood rings yesterday, I have 36 Icelandic eggs incubating right now.

HATCH UPDATE!!!

We have an Over-Achiever!! Eggs have been peeping and rocking since yesterday, and today we have a big PIP!!! Others are peeping in their shells, cheering her/him on! Seems a bit early, I think we put them in around midnight, the 10th. I wasnt expecting pips or hatching to start till tomorrow, but I'm not complaining!!!

Will keep ya all updated as much as possible, only thing that stinks is my camera is busted, so I will have to settle for written descriptions for now.

Yep, they do that! I had one pipped when I went to lock them down. The deal about the camera is unacceptable. You need to beg, borrow, or steal one! Well, maybe not steal one but....
