I think that you are right, got too close to the lamp. Does the other little white one have a crest?

They will continue to have their nightly treat !

The grouse that change colors are Ptarmigan, we have them here in Alaska and Canada and they are all across northern Europe, Russia and Siberia. There are a close relatives called the Willow Ptarmigan and Spruce Ptarmigan that live across the Northern US but dont change colors.
 
Jake am I reading this right,in reference to the visit from your neighbor,is your car/van parked two miles from your house? Farmerboy, I love the long crowers! Has yours started crtowing yet. I am thinking of ordering eggs for the guy in Texarkanna ,Ark,can't think og his name now. He has denzilis.
