Icelandic Chickens

Jake, Sorry to hear about Blau. Are you sure you don't want to just stay in MI and keep the the SC boys?! That is some brutally cold weather!

HHen, Those are going to be some beautiful Icelandics! Congrats to the new owner, I hope they'll be joining us here! And Daron definitely needs some more girls for all those boys he has.

Mary, Once again, great job on the construction and planning. The broodies are going to love it!

Kelly, I don't see you on the Easter Hatchalong list..... ? ,,,,,,you'd better have a good reason!

I will be hatching again - as soon as my wellies and barnies are laying. 2 wellie eggs today!

I just can't guarantee that I will be in on the Easter hatch, unless I get a broody. We go to the mountains on occasion starting in May, and I'm not comfortable leaving babies under any heat source unattended.

Boston, Here is another then and now for you. This is Bjarthur, one of my other cockerels.
He was an only chick for Asta's first hatch (had just given away eggs when she went broody).
First two pics are at one day old.

He's behind Asta, trying to avoid the flash! Great camo!

Ten days old.

Three weeks, learning how to dust bathe

Two pics at five and a half weeks

Three and one half months

Now

Have you contacted Ed Hart for Dorkings? Last year I ordered 2 doz, he sent 3, but I had an incubator malfunction and had none hatch. But great fertility. I was getting coloreds and he sent me some whites as well.

Good luck, Dorkings are on my wish list.

Very nice, Thanks for sharing.
I love the iridescent green colors in chickens!... Simply amazing transformation.

Not that too many of you know me, or my wife. And you wont really get to know me, unless I share things right?... We are expecting our 3rd kid end of Sept this year.
That will make this 3 kids under 3 :)... Our 2 goats should kid next month, and I have 5 Icelandics that just hatched today, and 8 more pipped. This will put me around 100 chickens. and going to get a calf next month as well.
Its going to be a busy house/farm pretty soon.
Here is a pic of us from october.
