Icelandic Chickens

Mary reminds me of those great lines in The Princess Bride where the Miracle Healer says " he's not ALL dead, he's just some dead, I've seen worse".

Nursing really is your forte !

Now looking forward to seeing how Lazarous does.

Alright, this is not even funny. I have had this huge waiting list for welsummer eggs and I'm so close to getting eggs to everyone. So last night I go to close up the coops and I have a broody...........................a welsummer. They are not a breed that goes broody. I have all these breeds that are supposed to go broody and the one I don't want broody goes broody. I give up!

Welsummers don't go broody? 4 out of 5 of mine have at least once. They are great mamas too.

That litle guy sure looked dead to me in the video, and right as rain in the last part, shows to go ya, dont give up, less you want to.

Shipping containers, as in , where to get them? Large enough to ship 3 ea 8 mos old Icelandics, in separate sections. I will need some soon, looking like I am heading north this summer. I will place some of my chickens here, and mail some to me up north.

Or thats what I am looking at now, and packing my incubators for summer hatching.

Life is good, and better with Icelandic CHickens !

Sure glad your little Miracle is doing well Mary!! Our Miracle is doing great too!!

here's her brothers outside for the first time tonight

And since this thread is really about Icelandics.. Here's a few of mine...

There's a third Miracle Shawn. I shipped Icelandic chicks on Monday to Colorado. They arrived this morning but two were DOA.

The buyer put the others in the brooder took some pics and emailed them to me. I told her about what happened with Lukka's baby yesterday. When she went back two hours later to dispose of the two that didn't make it she thought she saw a little beak movement on the black one. She warmed them both like I did and the black one revived enough to be running around with the others later in the day! She was thrilled! These are her first chicks ever. Can you imagine? I feel bad for the one that didn't make it. The carrier put them on the truck for delivery instead of calling. I am glad I sent extras.

Three miracles and it's only Tuesday!

Jake, google Horizon shipping containers. When you get to their horrible website you can see all the boxes. It tells you how much weight each can hold and how many birds. There is a link somewhere on the site to find the closest retailer near your zip code. I found that is the cheapest way to go. I order from Jedd's Pigeon Supplies in southern CA and they are much cheaper. The shipping is what kills you on these boxes so order plenty early enough to use ground to get them to you.
