Icelandic Chickens

Alright, this is not even funny. I have had this huge waiting list for welsummer eggs and I'm so close to getting eggs to everyone. So last night I go to close up the coops and I have a broody...........................a welsummer. They are not a breed that goes broody. I have all these breeds that are supposed to go broody and the one I don't want broody goes broody. I give up!

I should add that she's in the coop that's not set up for broodies. So now I gotta build a chick accessible ramp.

Seriously, most of the long time welsummer breeders say they have NEVER had a welsummer go broody.

It's that "BrooDoo"..........powerful, mystical, magic that happens when you least expect it......never to who you want it to...and never when you need it!

When I had Welsummers, one of the girls went broody. I wished I hadn't sold them all. I heard that she went broody again shortly after going to her new home.

Daron, congrats on the pigs.

Mary, I can't wait to see what the little white chick will look like.

thebirdguy, did the little girl goat make it? The others look great!

Kathy, I loved the video. What do the chickens think about the emus?

I loved seeing all the broody photos.

I'm ordering an Icelandic chick from Sandhill Preservation Center and am really excited. I read that many birds are different in color and no two are alike :) I like that. I'm really excited to get my Icelandic :D
