Icelandic Chickens

There are many mottled in the Icelandic breed, mottled is what that pattern is called, many of them do look like Swedish Flower hens so dont worry about yours, just enjoy them !

If you go back through the threads you will find some others but right now I dont know where they are, seems like some were posted last year, maybe early in the spring.

But they are in the breed so just enjoy yours.

Merry Christmas to all,

may it be a great hatching year in 2013 !

Life is good , and better with Icelandic Chickens !

How can I tell for certain that Flekka is indeed an Icelandic, and not a SFH? I'm going to see if I can get more pictures of her today so that you can have a better look at her. Shawn...........where'd you go? Ya gotta help me here, buddy!
SFH are larger than Icelandic's but I have seen many icelandic's with that same pattern so I am sure you are fine.

Just found this thread, thought you would enjoy seeing a picture I took a few years ago of some Icelandic chickens at Frelsi Farm in Limerick, ME. These folks are breeders of Icelandic sheep and sheepdogs, I don't think they breed the chickens, at least there is nothing on their website about them.

DollDoctor, how pretty! They look like something out of a magazine.

Oh that is good to know. Flekka is tiny - smaller than my little Leghorn! And they're about the same age. Thank you everyone for your input on her color. I am still working on getting some pictures for everyone to peruse.

Who is it that has hatching eggs? What's the good word today?

Merry Christmas, everyone! Have an awesome day.

Could you PM me their website. I'm interested in their dogs lineage, and any possible breeding opportunities. Thank You!

I dont know of anyone in Utah with Icelandics but there is a good flock in SE Idaho, he is on the list, go back through the threads from last spring and I think that you will find him.

Its good to see the flocks spreading in the Mountain States, to me they are a great breed for them, in free ranging the roosters do an excellent job warning against threats and again calling the flock together when food is found.

Its good to be back on the list, I am slowly settling in, building both chicken pens but also fish room racks in the basement.

Re dogs, I have five Malamute cross females, with 'Village Huskys', 8 mos old, average 70 lbs now, will mature around 90+ lbs, sweet, well grown, get along fine with cats, most have been in the house and behaved great. I am looking for homes for them. With a training leader they would be a strong team right now for weekend trips, and will make excellent home companion dogs , with exercise.

PM me if interested. Arthritis in a hand prevents me from sledding . I want them to have good homes. They are family.

Life is good. And better with Icelandic Chickens !
