Icelandic Chickens

Okay, not the best group shot, but every time I'd take my hand away they'd break for it. Nine babies!

I really like the color of this baby, apparently hiding in the group shot.

And just to prove Heimo (my feather legged roo) had his "hand" in this hatch, two feather legged babies.

I would love to see an updated picture of these chicks.

Nice pictures!

I was sitting on a bucket in the great turkey room next to the Icelandic pen in the coop, and was wondering when are those July 15 batch of Icelandics are going to lay?!?! As I was pondering that question, one of the black Icelandic pullet with the gold lace neck flew up to the milk crate that I had stapled to a stud, and hopped in. I stood up and she flew off the milk crate, and I looked in through the chicken wire, and could see some white stuff partly buried in the straw. I excitedly ran out of the turkey room, and into the Icelandic pen, and found 4 eggies!!!! YAY!!!

my pullets that are in what i consider general population (that free range) have been slowly but surely coming into lay. Yesterday i got 6 eggs from them (the most so far) my GNH are slow to start laying

I'll have to dig them out, DH moved them into the next age up brooder, not as easy to just pick up. I was looking at them yesterday and the Icelandic babies were all playing king of the hill in the brooder they share with about 20 other chicks.
