Icelandic Chickens

Thanks RedIII!

My birds came directly from Lyle Behl who brought them over from Iceland. I am really hoping to hatch some hens to add to my 3 hen laying flock :)

That's awesome! I have a hen that I think is from his line, and I just love her (she's in my avatar) I've been wanting to get babies out of her for a while, now.

In other news, I checked most of the Icee eggs last night. I can see two developing for sure, but one has a really weird air cell and I'm worried for the chick inside. Most of the eggs look like they haven't even started forming an embryo, and some are because of loose air cells. That shipping is so hard on them, even with the awesome packaging they came to me in. I'm still hopeful of getting even one chick out of these, though. It would be such an awesome addition to my flock

Today is day ten.

I am near Sullivan,Illinois, which is the central part of the state. I am hoping to hatch some hens, but so far only roosters! I just bought an incubator, and am hoping to change my luck.

Good luck with your eggs RedIII! I have a buddy whose family goes to Salt Lake City every once in a while. Maybe we could figure out a way to swap some birds someday once I get my hen flock built up.

They sound like kazoos when they first start crowing.....so funny to hear them trying to be "big"!

Good way to describe it

Thanks! Some kind of trade sounds interesting, for sure

We'll have to see what we can do when it gets to that point.
