After I posted that picture I went out to try and get a better shot of him. This is the best I could do.......

Beautiful! I am still working on the coop with the help of my DH . I installed a door on the sally port and DH turned an old bookcase into a 4-hole nestbox. We have a 12 foot roost installed. We face having to re-wire our barn though because it is a fire waiting to happen . This project keeps getting bigger!

Myrth, I like the idea of converting a bookcase into nest boxes. I may just have to try that. I'm always driving past old desks/curios/what-have-you that people leave out on the curb for free and thinking, "Hmmmm, wonder what I could make for the chickens with that?"

My philosophy is to use what I already have if that will work as well as something I would buy. I will post photos when the project is complete. I should have taken before photos for comparison.

"Good Morning Icelandic lovers!" from Galdur (magic) the older full-brother of Galsi and Jake's new arrivals.....

Mary that is one really beautiful rooster !!! !

I can hardly wait to see what this spring will bring.

Isi keeps his two hens with him right now, and the two roosters I got from you will have each six pullets. It should be a really fascinating hatching time.

Beautiful pictures of Niagara Falls. I imagine it's like the Grand Canyon in that you cannot grasp the magnitude of it until you are standing right in front of it.

Yosemite has a Bridalveil Fall too:

And on chicken related business - those roosters you have are stunning!

Good morning, Galdur! What a pretty boy you are.

We have a Bridal Veil Falls here in Utah, but I think it's smaller than the others. Must be a popular name, eh?

Autumn has definitely arrived here. It was chilly enough this morning that I had to grab my duster to go out and feed the chickens - and I like cold! All three of my littlest Icelandics were a bit hunkered down and puffed up when I went to feed them in the garage. I keep the garage heated in Winter, but only enough so that it doesn't freeze out there. It will be interesting to see how my new generation does when the snows hit........which will probably be soon. Last year, I was pretty impressed with how well my Icelandics did.
