Icelandic Chickens

Okay, I'm starting to get hopeful that I may only have one cockerel in my group of 5-week-old chicks....but I would love a second opinion!

My little runt in the foreground, and camera shy on the right.

Here's another shot of "camera shy" compared to the male. She's in the back, runt is sitting on the feeder.

I would LOVE some opinions on these babies :) It's so fun to watch their colors develop, they're a little different every day! No crests though :( Hopefully soon it will be warm enough for them to get out into the "nursery" so they can run around a bit. It's getting there, spring is on the way!!
Your one cockerel is obvious. I think your runt may be a cockerel. The other three look girly to me.

Yep, the little one just sprouted a big red comb and wattles :/

In my experience, the runts usually don't make it to adulthood

I set my eggs today. 19 went into the new incubator, so here's hoping for some chickies!
I know, I'm not holding out really high hopes for the little runt. But we'll see....At least the others are growing like weeds and looking super healthy.
Good luck with your hatch!

Quote: Your ratio is still in favor of the females which is good....and it looks like they will all be different so nice variety.

It was windy but the sun was shining today so the flock was happy to be outside:

.....well some of the flock was inside....

None were on the nest at lock-up......C'mon broodies!!!!

Hi, my runt will be 8 years old next month. She is the last one alive of my original flock, and healthy. She's not an Icelandic, but an Australorp.
