I'm glad you were able to get her back, and welcome to the wonderful world of Icelandics.

Today we met and there are now three pullets and a cockerel making their home with her and her husband near Peoria.
I am happy that there are two more Icelandic lovers in Illinois that are excited about protecting and promoting them.
I hope to hear and see how the adventure goes!

Glad she got a flock going from you Mary!

Not surprising at all. They will keep you on your toes!

Kathleen, with no offense intended toward you or yours, that picture is making me laugh every time I see it. You ought to put it on one of the caption threads.

Lost all but one of my eggs again. I'm pretty sure it's the cheap incubator I am using, because it can't hold a steady temp for long. I've got a new incubator on the way, though, and ten more eggs on the table waiting to go in. If my first two batches are any indication, I should have at least 75% of the eggs start to develop. Round three!

And kudos to my good girls, who are the only ones laying now that we have snow :)

Red, Do you have one of the Little Giant styrofoam incubators? I found putting small rocks in the bottom to act as a heat sink helped keep temps from fluctuating as much. Also important is to make sure the holes on the bottom of the incubator are not blocked so that there is good air circulation throughout incubation. Rotating the eggs throughout the incubator also helps keep any variation from causing a problem with an egg or group of eggs that may be too cool or too warm.
