Icelandic Chickens

Hold on....I got a cuter one loading.

...It disturbs me how much they actually listen to things I say.

The Icelandics have Landed !!

They left Saginaw just after 11am, its a 2 hr drive, and she had other stops to make so I thought it was pretty good service.

Here at 3:45 pm EST.

The big box I could hear 3 talking so set it aside and started taking out the new hatches, I forgot how tiny mine were, some of these it seemed that they should be put back in an egg shell ! But after dipping each ones bill 3Xs in a coffee mug of water they went into their respective dog crates, 11 in one and 10 in another, all in beautiful shape including the little silver one. Funny thing only one remotely resembles mine, these really are a Gump Box of Chocolates !!

Much fun watching to be done ! After they were all watered and in their new homes I scattered some turkey starter around and one following another they began feeding, not a half hour out of the boxes, all had circled around the water jugs and drank, I counted each one off to drink, so 21 babies arrived safe and healthy and all are drinking and eating, doesnt get any better then that !

I took the big box out to the chicken house, opened it and laid it on its side and Blau was out immediately then Issison, and the Countess strutted out in her grand entrance. My littler guys checked them out and showed them where the food and water was. So 3 more made at home.

Kelly knew I was worried so she just called and alerted me that they had arrived. I am so happy they arrived safe and sound and that you are pleased with the assortment. What a huge relief! Enjoy them and post pics!

The contest is over and the winner announced. However, in honor of a successful hatch and all chicks arriving safe and sound in Michigan I am having a Second Chance Round for all the losers from Round 1. Here are the rules:

Your guess for round one stays the same for round two. The only change is that we are starting with 33 eggs instead of 31. That should benefit the overzealous contestants. Again, the one whose guess comes closest to the actual number of chicks hatched in time for shipment next Wed, June 8th wins. No new guesses will be accepted. This is a second chance contest reserved for those who entered and lost Round One. Sorry Connie, as the winner of round one you do not qualify for the second chance prize! These chicks will be shipping to Shawn in Idaho on Wednesday. Hatch date is Tuesday.

This sign is the prize for the Second Chance Round. You know you want this!
