Icelandic Chickens

Kathy, I live where there is nothing but trees and what I used until last week was aircard from altel and loved it!!! verizon talked me into going 4G and I wish now that I didn' t because there is more steps to take and takes longer to connect. Now that I disconnected from the aircard I can't go back to it because it was from altel:hit

Laura those are beautiful !

I am hoping we can get some exhibition space at our area fairs,Alpena maybe, I could have two maybe ready for their september fair. Blau and the Contessa. Maybe Issison and Skjotur separate cockerals. That would be fun ! 90 mile roundtrip daily for five days

Have to think on that one.

I can hardly get over the color variety here !! The possibilities are incredible !

Starting the outside pen today, got a fox den just 30 yards away. So its gotta be tight.

Jack was feeling a bit frisky in the rain. Diana was following him like, "why are you making me run? Dont'cha know I'd rather be eating?"

Now you gotta be fair, where's the emu's running?

If Buck N Run Ranch doesn't work out, you can always call it Little Bit Farms because you have a little bit of this and a little bit of that.

That's a good name Kelly!

Re: the Emus running. Sometimes stuff happens like it did to Mary Catherine when you have skinny little legs and a great big football shaped body.

I'm with Laree, I have a number of chickens and youngsters that fit her discription, otoh, I am also wondering what all these little whites with a dark feather here and one there will look like. Earlier in the CH I was looking at each of my six under the light, picking them up and petting til they relaxed and checking their wings etc, the little white roo now has several black feathers on his neck, the black one has several light feathers in his cape also and long white primaries on the black wings, I think they are really seriously adding color, but the four chipmunks are all different, even though in muted browns, a couple look like gold capes or gold and red capes, while I was doing that Issison was up on a high roost giving me the eye. His turn is coming .

Mary you have really got me wondering about the emus, they just intrique me, how is the temperaments of the mature one supposed to be? I have only seen one mature male up close, he didnt have a companions and was just curious about people, I think he was a year or so old.

Jake, I've asked her similar questions. Mary told me they are supposed to be really gentle as long as they are raised from when they were young. They are really fascinating, you can't help but smile just looking at their goofy attitude.

Now, if down the road, Mary posts a video of them chasing me across the pasture.............then I guess we'll have our answer.
