Those Emu are just too cute. So are the goats. I love just sitting outside and watching my animals, they are so entertaining! I really enjoy your pictures & videos.

Congrats on the first Washingtonian Icelandic!!

Mary, The little buckling seems to be getting around just fine. I saw a bit of a limp but he should get over that eventually! The emus are truly fun to watch. What a great view of the pasture!!

Mahonri, Great start to your flock! Where's the pics?!

My teen boys are becoming quite the thugs to each other and the girls. Audun runs over and "recuses" the girls but just let's them "duke it out" amongst themselves. I need to make some decisions on who goes. Asta's one little chick is quite the spoiled brat. Peeps more than Anna's five together ever did. Has a hissy fit if Asta gets even a few feet from it, Anna's bunch were much more independent. Maybe because they had each other to hang with......interesting to watch how different they all are. Anna has taken to hanging around the barn. She has laid her egg in the 5 gallon bucket that I have granite grit in for the last two days and roosts with the "week before" and Easter hatchers (since I moved Asta and put Chickie Mama in the bigger broody pen there isn't a roost for Anna in with Asta and Asta won't tolerate anyone, even Anna, on the floor with "Baby").

Seinna, The Other Mary

Your input is good too Mahonri,

I am enjoying watching these two week olds develop their patterns and feathers,

got what looks like 3 with crests, hoping for more. So far not a single one with shank feathering. But they are little beauties

I am sold on the Turkey Starter for the Icelandics, yesterday afternoon when I went into the chicken house the six and Isison were all sitting on the same perch, wing to wing, the first three hatched are the same size as he Is !! Two of the last 3 are close, a week younger, have just one little one, a former chipmunk but she is growing too, so now all the little flock is getting the Turkey starter, picked up another bag of it monday. Plus chopped grass and clover. I have two crested roos, Blau and Skjotur, they and Isison are my for sure keeper roos, will be watching the others for 3 more.

Life with Icelandics is good

Mary............love the emu video, they are getting speedy! Hopefully you see some screws today in Stuarts poo.

Jake......6 roosters? How big of a flock are you going to have? Sounds like you'll have a big one - plenty to keep you in eggs.

Other Mary.....hopefully Audun will teach those teenagers how to be proper gentlemen!

OMG! I just candled the 52 eggs I set on Saturday. 50 have veining and the other two don't look like clears, maybe really early quitters. I am going to leave them until tomorrow and then crack them open if they don't have veins. Worse case is that fertility is 96%!
