Icelandic Chickens

taz, Although my original four Icelandics came from Mary, my two roos were from Sigrid's flock and my two hens from eggs from Marty's flock (from Lyle) that Mary hatched. Totally unrelated.
Ditto on the survivability of these birds in the wild. Their inability to get off the ground very far makes them extremely vulnerable.

Hi all!

It's been a while since I have had free time to lurk on this thread ( 1 of my very favorites by the way

)

So I just spent 2 hours reading and catching up!

Mary: I love your videos and photos, so funny! It is just like my house except I never have a camera with me to catch all the funny things!

On a more serious note I think your predator could very well be a fox. I lost 6 in one evening last year to a fox. It was brave enough to climb over our wire fence and into the pop door. I caught sight of it just in time to see it with it's last victim and run out of the coop with bird in mouth and scale the fence and take off into the neighbors pasture. It grabbed and took it to a safe spot. I ran and told my DH to get the gun but it was too late. I ran to the spot where I saw it drop the hen and it had a little pile of the others there. IT was grabbing and stock piling and then going back for more. It was soooo quick and quiet, I wouldn't of ever known what it was, but luckily or unluckily I got to see it get the last one. It was 7:30 pm and I always used to lock up the door at 8 pm. I have tried repeatedly to trap it and no success, they are just too smart!

I hope you find out what your predator is.

You want us to believe that you can take pics of haboobs, flapping roos and killer stinkeye hens and can't get an Icelandic's picture?

Ain't buying it Laree!

4 am today. ManBeef and the neighbor are training for an Iron Man competition
. I have been getting up and walking. The last few days (since the haboob) it has been around 80 degrees and 60% humidity.

Today NekkidBoy and I walked 3 miles at 4:15 and then stole apples off the neighbor's neglected tree.

Then we came home, woke up PITAKid, tossed their bikes in the car, and let them ride bikes at Shadow Mountain HS for ~2 hours. Got home at 7:30 and sent them outside to play.

.....NekkidBoy took a nap at 10 am

Sounds like you have it all worked out.........now, before you wake up PITAKid, take some pics when you return from your walk!!

Shame, shame.......teaching him to steal.

I wouldn't be walking outside anywhere there. A/C and an eliptical for me thank you very much. (or a pool and a cool adult beverage

) Instead today, the refridgerator man came to "fix" my ice maker. I say "fix" cuz now they have to order a new control board and fan motor - so it won't actually be fixed until the 15th. Then I took my 2 boys to see Transformers 3D. (it was really good

"Steal" being a really loose term, since I only pick up the ones on the ground, toss the bird-pecked ones in the stroller, and pile the "good" ones by their front door.

...you had to go and steal all my street cred.
