Icelandic Chickens

Oh Mary, I hope you aren't doing all this just for attention. There must be less painful things you could cook up. Ow- eee really hurts just to look at it. Any vicodin left??? All kidding aside, what a shame. You have to be more careful hon.

I was just enjoying your previous post of letting the babies out in the layer yard - how the first part of the day was spent running for their lives.I can just picture that.

Ouch Mary, that sounds and looks painful! I hope you feel better soon.

So, last week I seperated and moved chickens around to different pens/coops. I thought I would leave them in the new coops for a week or so till they knew where they were supposed to stay. Twice this week I had the same two Icelandic hens escape. I guess I really should plan on covering that run.

I have to move my Icelandic babies too, Laura. Well, I guess they just aren't babies anymore. I gave them their first taste of freedom last week, and they have not forgotten. Now, I don't even have to open the gate for them............ they just fly out!

They will have to go into one of the netted pens. Originally, my plan was to keep them in the ghetto coop until they were old enough to be with the big birds. Weeeellllll, they seem to think they are big enough NOW!
