Check out this guy way in the back with the long red crest...I cannot get a good pic of him with this &^%%! digital camera.......I will try again this eve when they are roosting...

The spangled cockeral is looking mighty nice too!

It's cold here but is suppose to be a bit warmer tomorrow. The babies aren't liking the cold too much and spend alot of time under their moms, especially when I come out to take pics!

Here is Chickie Mama with two of the three Icelandics she is raising. One is getting a foot warming, two is picking around for a snack (note the start of the crest!) and number three is under her trying to stay warm:

This is Dreki (July 13 hatch) roosting in the barn rafters. I heard him give crowing a try today, a pretty bad attempt! I never knew he had anything but blue on his breast before this pic. He looks very large, and he is a good size for his age, but he is puffed up trying to stay warm and it makes him look even larger!

Hillbilly my roos are as gentlemenly as can be. Much more so then most all other breeds I have had.

If you got a mean one its freezer camp time, temperament is one of the highest breeding coefficients that there is. Bad temper produces bad temper big time.

Jake I was afraid of that. Thanks for your reply. I only have the one cockeral and three pullets and until I can get a covered run for them I cannot even think about breeding them. I was hoping to breed them in the spring but the cockeral has gotten bad. Maybe I am just too nice? I have had a Welsummer, Delaware and now the Icelandic get mean.

Well, I tried again, sun came out for a wee bit & here I hand a scoop of corn...........

Doris, boofant girl in upper part of the pic, is very blue & laced with darker blue, and has a huge head of dark brown back swept hair!

This dun colored pullet looks like a pheasant!
I have the 2 "red heads, one central left, is all red, the other is to the center, gold cape & head but is sprouting an insane crest of bright red!!!

Birchen Boy, had such a wonky tail & is all better now.....

The mighty Popeye (doesn't he look meaner than cat snot??)

Finally a resonable pic of Spangles..looks like he is ready for Mardi Gras?
OK..I will keep trying...funny how Spangles still has no tail to speak of, but makes up for it with all the polka-dots!
They are under lock & key with lettuce & garden scraps..cuz another flock is out free ranging...

Oh my...I am having a very hard time deciding here which cockerals to out.....maybe 2....very blue Wheaten colored boys......
The Birchen, the Spangled, Red big crest, and pop eye will stay..I think..........

Thanks Chickielady, he is the "second in command" to my older Delaware roo. I have carried him around and even confined him to the top portion of my "Nella Brooder box" for a couple of days when he first started showing some aggression.

So I'm set up in the driveway now. with Jack o Lanterns, candles, Toothbrushes, toothpaste and candy....
