Icelandic Chickens

As I probably posted a few 1000 post ago, I am converting a chicken house in to a chicken coop. As luck would have it..... just 2 weeks after it was cleaned out (poop removed) a nasty storm ripped off 2 1/2 roof panels down at the back end of the house and the front door .

At that point I just threw up my hands and sulked for a bit.

SOooo my BIL is coming out next week to help me put them back up and repair a water spigot. Then, Just need to start building separate coops. I figure I better come up with a good Icelandic proof area.

Is that even possible

I was hoping to try for this News Years Hatch but........ I need to see how far I get and how quick the weather turns. I am lucky enough to have just gotten 7 Swedish Flower Hens chicks & a dozen hatching egg from a wonderful couple about an hours drive from here just last Sat.

They also have Breda, and I hope to get some next year.

I have never seen Icelandics pictured like them !! For sure find out who the parents are !! These are going to be the most watched Icelandics in America because they are going to spend the winter right beside my computer table ! With a big window to look out and watch whats going on in their world.

A friend came up from California this week to visit his daughter and new grand daughter in a town over the hill so we spent the day together, I did get some more 2 by4s and other stuff for the shed and we had a fun day , best day I have had in a long time, it was a great break from all the getting ready for winter here. And did get much for it and figure out other stuff on it.

Then I open this up this morn and see these little beauties ! So Kelly which ones are roos?? A couple Isi lookalikes?? The little one is a beauty too, going to be fascinating watching them grow up !!

Its going to be a good winter !!

Life is good, and better with Icelandic Chickens and Pack Goats !!

Here is a picture of her eye yesterday taken from the video:

Here it is today. She had bleeding into the orbit as well as the tissue around the ey and her earlobe and wattles.

We are so lucky we didn't lose her.
