Spring is definitely here......finally!!

Ive been out of touch a bit on this forum. Busy with puppies, hatching eggs and building an outside run! My icelandic's are laying very poorly. I get 1 egg out of three hens every other day if I'm lucky.. grrr I want to get some different lines to add into mine. too bad it is a pain to ship to canada/ suppppppperrrrrrrrr expensive! If anyone is coming here and wants to smuggle some in for me I'd be super happy

Hi Robin! It's been a while. Are you talking about my hen? She is very adventuresome right out there in front. Yesterday when I let them free range she saw one of my EE flew, flew!! all the way to her till she realized it was one of her flock, lol. The boys are really nice roos very protective of the girls. I have to many roosters and I needed to free up a coop something had to go.
Hi Kimmie. Yes, it has been awhile. I understand about needing pen space. I have some chickens I need to get rid of too. I am going to concentrate on my Silkies. So, my Marans, my Blue Andalusions, and my Golden Campines need to go. I believe my son is taking the Golden Campines. I will be keeping most of my bantam breeds though.

I've got 59 chicks in my brooder (no Icelandics)... mostly cochins, a couple of silkies, some silver seabrights, sumatras, Old English games... goodness and I've got to start selling the ones I don't want to keep.. .YIKES!!

I did keep one Icelandic roo... he's still young but I feel he will be looker, and he'll have 9 pullets... so.. we'll see what happens. Still have one Icelandic pullet that is PURE white and has yet to grow a feather of a different color on her. The only way I can tell her from a leghorn is the leg color... and I'm sure she'll lay smaller eggs.

Well, I had 2 make it to lockdown, but the Sportsman spiked at 112 overnight and I lost close to 300 eggs...so no Icelandics for me. Perhaps I don't need another breed after all? *sigh* I did have a miracle of a couple that look like they survived, both Lemon Cuckoo Orps.

Happy Easter, everyone!
