Icelandic Chickens

I had two hatch for the Cinco de Mayo, one needed hobbles, was getting around ok. Then one morning when I went to check on them it had died for some reason.

I have 6 broodies. 2 have chicks now, the 3rd I broke by moving her to another coop. 4th is sitting on eggs. 5 and 6 don't have anything yet. One of them is Briet, my 3 year old Icelandic - she has never gone broody before. She will be getting 5 or so Icelandic eggs from Sheriff Mary. The barnevelder will be getting barnevelder eggs and olive egger eggs.

Mike, would you be asking for a picture if it was any of the other hens?

Of course I would.

Broody count for me..so far... is 9 total.

Anna finished 4 Icelandic eggs started in the incubator for the Easter Hatchalong.
Gaela finished 2 Icelandic eggs started in the incubator for the Easter Hatchalong.
Gola finished 2 Icelandic eggs started in the incubator for the Easter Hatchalong.
Glora hatched 1 of her own Icelandic eggs.
All the above chicks are living together in the mobile coop.

Asta finished 2 Barnevelder eggs that I started in the incubator that were shipped from NC.
Gula finished 2 Cochin eggs that I got from my neighbor who had started them in an incubator.
Both of the above are still together with their chicks.

Glima pushed an egg, with a half-hatched chick, and squished a second chick so no chicks for her. Took three days to break her.
Gray, crested KY hen didn't hatch any from the shipped Barnevelder eggs I gave her. She broke after I removed the eggs.

Elska is number nine....I have no doubt she'll be fine with her now five eggs...

Well, I confess I want to see Elska broody photos, the others not so much. I can't help it ELSKA has always been special. Thanks for the photo but, you know one will never be enough.
