Icelandic Chickens

Haven't been on the thread for awhile so I thought I would drop in and show pics of my three surviving Icelandics. I think they are all pullets. Please let me know if you agree or if I have a roo.

I'm confused with your pictures. You said it's your surviving 3 pullets - the first picture shows 3 birds, the one in back with comb * wattles looks like a roo, the second picture shows 3 more birds. I don't know which picture has the birds you are asking about - there are 6 different birds shown.

I am sorry, I forgot to specify the Icelandics in the first pic are the two on the left, in the second pic it is the whitish one in the middle. I couldn't get them to hold still for me once I got the camera out. The kept socializing with the rest of my flock.

The first two on the left, I'd say are pullets. The whitish one in the second picture, I can't tell. I haven't seen many crested icelandics. You do have beautiful birds though. Others will probably reply to you tomorrow. Seems like a slow night. Maybe a lot of people are having weather problems.

You may want to post your photos at "Stella's Social Club," thread. The same person that started the Icelandic thread also started Stella's. Another poster "Happy Chooks," is there and we consider her THE gender expert.

Great idea. I'm not hatching anything indoors, or using an incubator this year. If anything hatches it will have to be from a broody. I need to get my numbers down.
Me too. I'm still getting rid of excess cockerels from last year. I'm nowhere ready to hatch yet.

All pullets.

Happy Valentine's Day Icelandic Lovers!

I have a pullet that didn't get the memo that there will be NO BROODING UNTIL MARCH 12 at the earliest......

........I moved her back to the roost last night....we'll see what happens today.

@CoopCop Nice looking group of pullets! You have a great start!

Just had to share more pics! These guys are beautiful and a couple have big beautiful crests! I can't believe how quickly they mature! The boys are already chasing the hens around at only 9 wks.

Thanks for the gender ID everyone. The girls hatched September 15 any guesses on when they will start laying? I am hoping to get an Icelandic roo from Maldwin or someone else relatively close to me (Salina, KS). Then I can hatch a few more.

I may also order some more hatching eggs, probably from Whipporwill Farms. Any other recommended sources?

Mine hatched July 8. I started finding eggs at the end of December. I think all 6 of my gals are laying, now, sunce I find 3-4 eggs each day (and, I do mean find. Their favorite nest is under my house...). So, I would say you are getting close!

CoopCop, wish you lived closer. I have a handsome young cockerel I'd give you. Good luck in your search!

Wow, you've got to be kidding me. It's 3:30 am and two if my boys are crowing :| Dodo heads.......
