TaDa! They arrived this morning at about 8:30am.

Now happily scratching away in their temporary pen.

Plan on letting them relax for a few days before introducing them to the free rangers. The pen that they are in is next to our broody who is sitting on what will soon be their future GF's....lol

Thank you again Mary for letting us be part of the Icelandic Adventure!!

Those aren't Icelandic names silly!

Here's my list of possibilities so far. Maybe Sigrid will pop in and tell me I am all wrong. I do need something I can pronounce though. I got these by looking up famous people from Iceland and Icelandic baby names.

Mary, Try this link for Icelandic names. It's helped me alot. I'm going with Asta and Anna for the girls, Ari and Audun for the guys. I'm off today and working in the garden, near where they are in their "holding cells". I love the "trilling/whistling" sound the boys make. Do they lose that as they get older? They look at me for snacks constantly but are learning that just because I walk by doesn't mean they're getting a handout!! I hope they like Japanese beetles....they'll be showing up soon and if this year is anything like last year, there will be more than enough for everyone! Well, off to do some mowing. Need to find out what the Icelandic word for later is...............................

Yay!! Glad to hear they made it safely. Go Broody, Go Broody, Go Broody!! Girlfriends on the way for the handsome boys!!

We have a name for our 2nd cockerel.... Buri.

According to Icelandic Myth (Gods/Goddesses), Buri means producer and indeed he produced! He fathered many of the great gods and goddesses so we are hoping this guy lives up to his namesake.

And we have our 1st pullet name picked out... Ostara. Goddess of.... what else? Fertility!

So Buri and Jokul have alot of work ahead of them

It is quite possible that any chickens coming from Cluckawalla Valley State Prison could be spoiled and require some rehabilitation. Or you can just accept them as they are and provide them with scrambled eggs or steel cut oatmeal when it's cold outside and watermelon, cantaloupe and honeydew when it's hot. They will also be expecting an afternoon snack of organic whole grain sprouted bread regardless of the weather. They are inmates from California for crying out loud! Three hots, a cot, and cable TV! Deal with it.

My adult roos don't make the sound but Isi giggles. I'll have to try and get him on video. It's ridiculous.
