Thanks so much Warden.. I was very scared I had let you down.. I will defintly be getting with you come spring and trying again.. I am planning a full over hall of coops and runs over the winter.. Its warming up here this week so I will be setting my posts during the lull and that way I can work thru the winter (weather permitting)

TEST HATCHER NEEDED:
Hey everyone. I have 15+ Icelandic eggs that need to be incubated. I am looking for someone interested in the preservation of the breed to take these eggs and incubate them. They are pullet eggs and the fertility rate on them has not been great at 50-60%. Actual hatch rates are excellent. I would like to see how these do when shipped and if the fertility has improved. I re-homed a rooster and Isi seems to have settled back down and is "dating" more and fighting less. If you would like to try to hatch yourself some Icelandics send me a PM. I hope someone who follows this thread will want them. I am hesitant to list them on the auction thread as I might not choose the right person with the right motives. I would ship Priority Mail tomorrow.

UPDATE: Doesn't look like anyone is around tonight or interested in these eggs so I'll be listing them on the auction forum. If you miss out on this batch there will be more! Here are my babies that hatched yesterday and today:

Well I got a test hatcher for my eggs so they will be on their way today.

Meanwhile, I finally got the dark baby I have been waiting for! I put two eggs under Blue Mama at lockdown and the day before they were due to hatch she left them unattended and I found them stone cold in the nest box. I put them in the incubator and hoped for the best. One did not hatch but the other did, a day and a half late but otherwise looking healthy. And dark! He was waiting for me in the incubator when I got up this morning. I am so happy!
