The only thing harder than photographing a white egg is photographing a blue egg!
Here are some of the ones I have collected for Mahonri. (I was really careful with them) You can see just a slight difference in tint now between the smaller eggs in front and the larger in back. Maybe it is my imagination, but as the eggs get bigger the color gets lighter.
Congrats to Asta and Anna! I had another one start laying but I don't know who it is. I got five eggs in one day so I know somebody else stepped up to the plate!
In lockdown I had 10 eggs, 8 due today and 2 due on Sunday. I came home to 6 blue cochins, 1 blrw and.........1 icelandic who hatched TWO days early. The other icelandic egg that made it to lockdown is pipped as well. I think they are in a hurry to get into the world.
I also received the shipment of eggs from you yesterday. I am putting them in tonight, if all goes well I will have a Christmas Eve/ Day icelandic hatch. The packaging was awesome on this batch!!!!
I will post baby pics tomorrow when both are hopefully out, dried and fluffed up.
Congrats Cristi! What colors did you get? Icelandics are always the first to arrive at the party!
And yes, flgardengirl, Icelandics are more suited to cold climates but Mahonri has A/C and a mister system for hot days. It gets hot here too and I use a mister if it is miserably hot, otherwise they do fine.
Ahhh that's so cool. Mahroni is definitely chicken obsessed if he has air conditioning for the chooks. I can't wait to see what he hatches. They are so interesting looking!
