Icelandic Chickens

Hi everyone.I didnt get a coop for christmas but i am getting rid of three roos and maybe some other chickens so if you have any eggs The Warden maybe i could buy some from you in a couple weeks?

Oh Chicken....I'm tired! *Yawns* I've been staying up late for the past 4 days/nights reading from Post #1. I read 172 pages!! I'm going to take a nap. See you peeps later...

I could read and re read these posts a thousand times, when I read of other people doing it for hours I feel I am not alone. Is anyone else just hungry to read the research that was mentioned as to be coming out of Iceland in early 2011? I am am salivating in eagerness. I am in love with my Icelandics!

I hate getting rid of chickens, but we just can't afford to feed them all.

One of the black barred split to buff chicks is doing poorly tonight. I don't know what is going on but they were all fine all day because I was down working in the barn and they were running around like crazy. Tonight we went down and this little one was face down, feet stretched out behind him. At first I thought it was a leg problem but I brought him up to the house and he is just lethargic. I dipped his beak and he will swallow but that is about it. I did all the usual things like PolyViSol, fluids, etc. He is not pasty, his crop seems fine, just weak. He is in the little brooder covered with a blankie sleeping. That is all I can do for the little guy. We'll see what happens tomorrow.

I have another dilemma. I sent eggs to wolftracks for her Chinese New Year's hatch but could only send eight cause they weren't laying. Then yesterday I was in the coop doing something and I spotted something white in the shavings. I found four eggs buried in shavings behind the feeder! I realized they probably don't like the nest mats so they are laying on the floor. I removed the mats and put shavings in and four laid in the nest boxes today! So now I have eight eggs down there staring me in the face. What to do...What to do? No telling how long they were there. Can't eat them.
Don't really want to fire up the incubator but I just might have to. I probably should since my population is going to go down big time as soon as I re-home the roos.
