Icelandic Chickens

Thanks Ryan!
Cheryl, your coop pics and description are really awesome! Those penciled birds are sweet, really beautiful!
Mary, wish I were closer and I would take all your roos!

Good eye Kathy! Is that feathers on the legs Mary? I know a fellow with a flock who occasionally get very fine feathers on the legs but I have never seen ANY pics before now that had any!

Well Mary, I just LOVE all of your pics... and feel so happy for your birds.

Do they all lay in the barn or have some hens been finding nesting spots out on the 4 acres?

My 8 are growing... one of those was a "cup" baby and while I didn't have to use a bandaid for his legs, the cup really worked for the first couple days to force him up on them.

4 are white, 4 are dark. No other colors.

Tomorrow I've got to build them a brooder on the north lawn, their dog crate is getting too tiny... and so I hope I can get pics!

Thanks Mahonri! So far they are laying in the nest boxes but only 2 or so eggs a day. Your birds could still turn out to be many different colors, especially the dark ones. Those are the ones I find turning orange, brown, blue, etc.

Andy, my Isi has feathered legs. Here's a close-up. Lukka asks that we forgive her in this picture. She was out late last night.

I don't know yet. I have had a run of low fertility with the hatching eggs and I am testing again now. Please check back.
