You asked to be corrected if you have it wrong and you do have it wrong Andy. I do not have any pure RALA "line." I started with two RALA hens and two non-RALA roosters. From those I hatched a lot of chicks. I added eggs that originated from Lyle Behls' line (via Marty Favre) at a later date and they have started laying. I have never separated my birds into imaginary lines. When I got the birds I was told that the roosters came from Flatey. Only in Sigrid's most recent post did she state they came from members of the Icelandic Preservation Society, and who knows what line those came from. The only way I could tell anyone for certain where the eggs came from would be if I had collected them from the nests myself. But, how would I know where the hen that laid it came from? That is all the information I have about the origin of the chickens or eggs I have given people.
I think the best thing for me to do now is to remove myself from this thread and this discussion. It has obviously gone somewhere I didn't intend it to go. As in most things in life, people come along with stronger views and opinions and we are smart to recognize when it is time to let go. My time on this earth is quite limited and I don't intend to spend it defending my chickens on a molecular level. I intend to spend it enjoying my chickens for their beauty and diversity, no matter where the egg was laid.
Best wishes to all.
