Icelandic Chickens

Speedy looks like he has a crest, or at least a ducktailed hairdoo. It looked kind of that way yesterday, still does. The little one joins them this morn, and the remaining eggs stay in the hatcher til tomorrow, today is day 22. And the next set goes in after the hatcher gets a cleaning. This set into egg cartons, seems like a good idea.

Now need some Icelandic names, but, not til I know their sexes.

I'm sorry. I do not know the answer. I do not show birds, so I have no clue.

It would end up in the "catch all" category like Easter Eggers...

Icelandics are not/have not been accepted into the standard of perfection.

Thanks that's what I thought. We don't really show. My nephew really likes the Icelandics and wants to show off the tophat of one at the fair.

Ok back to reading.....

I am trying to read all the posts too. But I had to post pics of the 4 Icelandics that I got from Kathy. They will be 6 weeks old the next day or so and the little male is the friendliest. He always wants to jump on my arm or back. This morning when I went out to change their water he jumped on my back as I bent over and greeted me with his first crow! He did it a few more times before I made him get down. Also.... any suggestions for names I would appreciate it. Thanks

Congrats! They are going to be gorgeous when they mature!

I found this link to be helpful for names:

They are looking great, Laura! I can hardly wait to see them all grown up!

I have a few new Icelandic chicks this morning. As my hatch is in progress, I can not really see how many, but at least 4 or 5 are out. I see more pips.

I am seriously impatient for these eggies to hatch. Its been all of...8 hours?
