Icelandic Chickens

Here's the 15 that are out presently. LOVE that dark brown one in the center and the dark chipmunk. The two on the right not fluffed up yet look to be a light blue and a dark blue.

UPDATE: 16 is a blondie and 17 a light chipmunk #18 is zipping. 4 pips and 8 doing nothing.

That's a nice bunch of chicks! So how did I ever get 2 out of 5 blacks(one now a dark blue) and out of 15 you hatched none? Those sure are some random Icelandic chickens!

I am not done yet Ryan! Don't bet the farm I don't get one quite yet. The one that is zipping looks dark but they kind on all do when they are zipping.

Mary,
Whenever I ship birds other than day old chicks, I always put in a cooked sweet potato (microwaved) and peeled or cut up grapes. I have not had a loss yet. Yes, I think he would be fine to make the trip.

I "lost" a chick today. I am just beside myself. I mean lost as in I can not find it! I took the 15 Icelandic chicks outside today, as it was almost 90*. When bringing them back inside I put them in a box. This one black chick jumped out. I have searched and searched and can not find it. It headed for some bushes and I have torn those things apart looking.

Oh I am sorry Kathy. We "lost" some chicks at our old house and it is so frustrating not to know what happened to them! Maybe it will find a warm place for the night and show up tomorrow. I remember vividly searching the creek bed behind our house more than once.

On a happier note, I have 7 pips!

I have 17 eggs in the hatcher. Of course they are a day early. I ordered more shipping boxes and they should be here tomorrow. They were shipped last week. If I get them tomorrow, I am willing to ship out this batch of chicks. Anyone interested?

I really shouldn't though ...... these could be my long awaited crested babies!
