Icelandic Chickens

Just poppin' in to show off my new avatar! I took it when we were in Iceland in November....this is a logo for a chicken restaraunt in downtow Reykjavik. We had such a great time & saw a LOT of chickens, actually.

Anyway, sorry to interrupt! Carry on!

Mary, how is that saw horse feeder working out? Did covering the "tray" with wire eliminate feed waste? My birds spill about half their feed on the floor, I am looking for a way to solve that problem pronto!

Mary, there's a Happy Dance going on in Idaho!! Go chickies!!!

We are counting down the hours now!! I got the 2nd part of my "nella" brooder finished last night.. I'll move the marans and 6 icelandics out there either today or in the morning.. clean the inside brooder and I'll be all set for the chicks to arrive...

Me too, Michelle! I have also tried the hanging feeders..... still half is wasted. I wish I knew a way to eliminate waste! I have some of those long trays, and I was thinking about putting them behind (or outside of) the fence. Then, they would have to reach through the wire to eat. I have got to try something, because the waste is ridiculous here!

If you go to your profile and click on "display," you can change the number of topics and the number of posts to display on each page for ya. Increase the number of posts and you won't have so many pages to read.

I set mine on 25 posts per page, and even with satellite it is a pretty fast to load.

Silly, I'd still have the same number of posts to read, though, LOL!

I just note where I left off and next sitting, get going at that point. I'll catch up to the current page eventually. I find it so interesting that yellow chicks end up blue! That is wild!

The saw horse feeder is working great. I actually removed the screen and i find as long as I juveniles dow there they clean up the spillage while the bigger birds eat out of the trough. It has really been working out well.
