Icelandic Chickens

Thank you--yours is a great example of what I'd love to put in for our birds! With photos I can point and say, "I want this!" Scary fence guy with rage issues? Yikes!

Mary if you submit some of your pics for the calendar you give others a chance to see these beauties !

My silver pullet is crested ! Is that a keeper or no!! The colors on the youngsters are amazing. The first trio leaves home today. Some others on Sunday.

The pretty white chicks now have black bars here and there that will develop into splashes, I am keeping one of the roos with a crest, plus a big chipmunk with a crest that is developing a beautiful cape already. He is the biggest chick of all this year, the next biggest is a pullet I hatched and she is bigger then the roos of her hatch ! Of the youngest hatch I am keeping 3 roos, that gives me six to grow out. All but one, Isison are crested.

I have 40 Icelandic Eggs locked down on Day 19. Day 20 starts at 9 p.m. tonight! One is out, a chipmunk pattern, two are zipping and twelve are pipped! These guys wanted to make sure they didn't miss the holiday. Good thing I'm not shipping. That would have been messed up! I haven't checked to see if Lukka is keeping up with me yet. Let me see, where did I leave the Kevlar gloves.....

Well I have a camera! I got up this morning to three Icelandics in two Brinseas and lots of pips. Right now I have 15 hatched, 18 pipped, and seven unpipped. Day 20 starts in 5 hours! That is amazing for me! The most amazing part? I AM BEATING LUKKA! She only has two out of seven pipped and no chicks yet.

p.s. See the dark grey one? Unless I hide it, I'll bet my friend chooses that one!

Just sayin'.

(edited to correct the math. I forgot to factor in the four unpipped in Kelly's incubator.)
