Hi All,
Just wanted to pop in and introduce myself, I think I have been lurking long enough. I hail from SE Ohio and just recently got my hands on some Icelandics! I had been quietly obsessing over Icelandics for a couple months, I think after I found this thread and had decided to try to start a flock next spring. Well, while I was looking for some laying pullets for my current laying flock, I just by chance met someone locally who happened to also have Icelandics, how bout that! I wasn't even looking! She also seem pretty surprised that I was familiar with the breed. Any how, I have 10 now, it seems what I thought were pullets are turning into cockerals, lol so its about a an even split. The majority are "speckley", and a couple are tan. I love them! I could just watch them all day long, if I didn't have a 2 year old daughter to run after!
My plans are to purchase more eggs(The Warden?) next spring, to add some blood. These are Lyle Behl originated birds. If anyone has a source for live day olds, I would love to have that info. We live off grid and live chicks are the easiest route for me.
Nice to meet you all!
