Icelandic Chickens

Hi Chickendale

I am breeding for diversity and more Icelandics,

they are a very old breed, isolated from other old breeds, and modern breeds, so in a real sense they are an unknown package genetics wise, so we are trying to maintain the diversity that we have while we find out what we have genetically.

Its a fascinating quest to see what is wrapped up in these delightful packages.

Life is good, and better with Icelandic Chickens and Pack Goats !

Well, of course a serial candler would come up with some kind of reasoning. Rationalizing..... that's what it really is.

Mary (Warden) I love your pink avatar, reminds me of the hot pink silkie that was in a wedding party several months ago.But. she had a tiara and pearls.

Well, I might go to pick up two pairs of Icelandics in Wolverine sometime next week. It will be the longest drive that I have ever drove- 183 miles, 3 hour and 20 minutes drive to the farm. So, it will be 6 hours and 40 minutes total there and back.

The farthest I have ever drove is 75 miles, and I am only 22, well 23 in November, but still... 12 gallons per mile on the van that my parents let me drive, it will be worth getting those Icelandics.

Welcome chickendales!!!!!! Most are working on preserving these beautiful birds by keeping them pure. There is no standard, so nothing to breed for other than diversity in color.
