Icelandic Chickens

You think? Why don't you know? Don't make me go over there and find out!

Well, I am back from the trip. It went well on the way there, and met Jake's friend Lois, a very nice lady. The Icelandics were free ranging, and roosting in the rafters of the goat barn, caught 2 roos, but they got out the cage a few minutes later.

Re-caught one roo, and 2 other roos, and 2 pullets. 2 other roos and one pullet ran into the woods in the dark night, and could not find them.

I had to climb a pine tree to catch a pullet, and 2 roos, lost the roos, but got the pullet. Had to climb the wall in the barn to get some of the birds in the rafters, manage to catch the biggest roo, others flew off. Climbed over the goat fence several times to catch the birds, so 5 Icelandics out of 8 manage to be caught, and stowed in the truck, and the entire process of catching the Icelandics took 2 hours, 3 roos, and 2 pullets. Oh and a bittie little golden lace Sebright bantie hen too.

Lois gave me a jar of fresh raw goat's milk, and a loaf of homemade bread to eat on the way home.

They were so good, and I was very hungry, that I drank almost all the milk, and half of the bread.

Lois have to go to Lansing sometime next week, and will have someone to catch the rest of the Icelandics, so she can take them with her and I will meet her there, to pick up the escapees.

Ok, got to hit the sack, soo tired, long day and drive.

Almost fell asleep a few times on the road. Thank goodness the freeways were mostly empty, and the wakeup strips along side of the roads keeping me awake. For some reason caffeine does not keep me awake, so I did not take anything with caffeine, and does not like coffee too.

Had to sing a few times to keep me awake, but have a cold, so my throat was a bit sore.

BTW, I will take pictures of the Icelandics tomorrow.
