Icelandic Chickens

Almost, my van is parked about 200 yards down a steep drive from the cabin, so I carry stuff up from it when the snow is deep, my neighbor lives just over a mile up the road from me, good folks.

My parking space is just about 10 yards off the cnty road which is plowed.

Wow that would be neat to live off the beaten path like that. At least you know if they are comming to visit then they really like you!
Hope everyone has a great Thanksging and gets plenty to eat. Don't forget to spend a few mintues giving the birds a special treat for all the smiles they give us during the year!

WOW ! I guess everyone is sleeping off turkey and moving around relatives looking for a place to nap !

Or deer hunting, that was the two big items on Thanksgiving Day, I heard later that some traded football games for the deer hunting but I never saw any reason for that. Different strokes etc.

I had a good day except for a big hemlock laying over and poking a rear side window out of the van, or should say into the van. Got that covered over, now need to find a glass shop, life goes on.

Enjoy, watch the Black Friday sales, much of the stuff sold there is ordered in special for it. So, I dont trust them, or like the crowds. Next week is the better time for real bargains anyhow.

Black Friday is awesome! I haven't missed one in years. I was in Walmart before midnight and done and in the parking lot at 0107. There were only a few things I wanted, and I got them all.
Kodak EasyShare (RED) camera $49. Carrying case $5.
FujiFilm Finepix S3280 camera $159. Carrying case $9.
SanDisk 4GB $5. each
SanDisk 8GB $9. each
4GB Flash Drive $5. each
8GB Flash Drive $9. each

I bought some rechargeable AA batteries (not on sale) and a charger too.

Oh, almost forgot..... I also picked up one of those Black and Decker 20 Volt Lithium-Ion Drill with bonus 100 accessories and carrying case for $60.

I don't know if all Walmart stores did this, but I liked it. No big TVs (and other big things) were in the store. There were only coupons. You go pay for it and then drive around back (in automotive, where they change oil) and they loaded them up for the customers. That was nice to not have all those TVs and other big boxes in the way of everyone.

Yeah Kathy! I never ever do Black friday shopping. I hate crowds and lines so it doesn't work for me. Michael went out to Best Buy for the midnight sale. He waited in line a half hour before it opened, then ten minutes for the people ahead of him to get thru the doors first. He spent 5 minutes in the store finding out of anything he wanted was on sale. It wasn't and he was back in the car headed home by 12:15! We aren't buying a lot of gifts this year. I scored some cool little Barbeques on Woot that only use 8 briquets to cook a whole chicken so I bought those my for my son and for Michael's daughters. They like to camp so it would be great for that. The grandkids are, for the most part, getting Visa gift cards. They are at that age now.

So I stayed home, in bed.

I keep hoping that one of the following will start laying.

1.) Welsummer
2.) Marans
3.) Isbar
4.) Cream legbar

#4 is a pipe dream. They aren't ready but the other three have no excuse! The cream legbars are venturing further out into the yard today. They have been getting jumped by the big girls a lot.

My parents and sister and her husband enjoyed seeing the animals. Even my Mom who has macular degeneration could see Lukka's Barnevelders and she really thought they were adorable. They are the cutest and fattest little things. I think their strong contrasting colors made them easier for my Mom to see from up on the deck. Stuie and Louie were in rare form as well and made everyone laugh. That's their job.

I might get brave and head to the feedstore for the Black Friday feed sale but since it lasts a week there's no big rush. Just having a lazy day is nice. Sorry about your window Jake!

Thanks Mary, it could have been a lot worse, the tree could have fallen right on the van and bent it all like a banana. I think I got off lucky. I like that van, want to keep it going.

I had a spat to break up that could have gotten bad, yesterday both Isi and Bjorn were going after Blau, so I would up bringing him in the house while his nips dried off, mid morning I took him back out, but no go, Bjorn kept coming right in, so I put a big wire dog crate out there, covered it with a tarp, put straw, feed and water in and Blau is there now, I will finish off the section next to there and put Blau and a couple of the gals in with him, after I get some eggs incubating I will put those in the general population and give him another couple to keep him company. i am thinking of mating him with The Contessa, and Blue the silver chick, she and the Contessa both have gold lacing, their chicks by Blau could be really gorgeous, after them there are a couple of the wheatens with some blue in them, one very much like Lukka.

Life goes on,

Life is good and better with Icelandic Chickens and pack goats !
