Icelandic Chickens

Thanks Jake! Your check for the Icelandic Fab Feathered Three made it much more tempting to pick these up today instead of the four emu eggs I won on an eBay auction last night. The seller's house is in rock throwing distance to mine! I got the two two babies plus the shells they hatched from so I can have them DNA sexed from the shell membrane!

I even bought a spare Havabotor with a fan from the guy to hatch my emu egg in! Double

ing too since I won't keep borrowing hers. I like to have one around as a hatcher. Here's the first pic of my new babies. If by some unbelievable twist if fate neither of these or the chick in the egg are females, at least I have a source for local eggs and I can try setting again.

Total Color I may have a couple beautiful Icelandic Roosters for you, Isi my son of Marys Isi who is gorgeous with rich color on a white base, and one of the Fab Feathered 3 who so far is white.

Both have Single Combs, recessive to the RC, but , still they would suffer where we are going in AK, its been down to -22 there and can get much colder and probably will this year. I dont believe in dubbing so it would be harsh to take them. It might be even hard on the RCs. We'll see, they will be in an enclosed barn, but still its going to be cold. I have had -7 here, that I know of, Isi got the frostbite, the two RCs didnt.

The hens were never marked at all, and with the nightlight are laying strong, nice medium eggs.

Congratulations Daron, that black one will surprise you as it develops, I havent seen a self black yet, so watch for the colors.

Life is good, and better with Icelandic Chickens !
