You folks are great to have morning coffee with !
But, I have learned, slowly, not to read a post before swallowing the coffee in my mouth, and never, ever, to open a post with both coffee and donut in the mouth !!!!
Yup Daron the next all black Icelandic rooster or hen that I see will be the first, havent seen a self black yet, a few with lined or colored capes, my Countess is black with a beautiful gold line cape, but she isnt a self black. I am curious what colors I will have from her and Blau and/or Bjorn. I think that the pattern genes over ride the self genes in them.
Much for us to find out about this wonderful breed, we are just in the adolescence of learning about them. I do know that I
am going to be selecting for smaller combs, and hope that in doing so I dont select away from other traits. But I will be selecting for more crests and leg feathering, and smaller combs while keeping up the excellent egg production and ranging ability the flock has.
Kate I am sure you can find something to get you back in his good graces ! This big white guy with the leg feathering is just what you need and Isi jr is a proven flock master, guardian, breeder, and watches over the flock and calls them when there is new food, grsshoppers or me bringing treats. And, he is gorgeous !
Mary O, let us know on that DNA please, wont sleep all weekend wondering and praying for a girl or two ! Gotta believe prayers will be, but still got human worry in there.
Will keep lots of positive thoughts on it !!
Life is good and better with Icelandic Chickens !!
