Icelandic Chickens

Hello everyone. I've been lurking on here reading but thought it was time to introduce myself. I'm the person who has Hillbilly Hen's Icelandic chickens. I live on a small farm in southern Michigan where I raise hair sheep. I also have a few Icelandic sheep. I like the picture of the Icelandic dog. Looks a lot like my Border Collie. I have 3 grown and married children and 8 grandchildren ranging in age from 8 to 18. I have a dear husband that puts up with all my animal stuff and is constantly building for me LOL. Gives him something to do. I love the Icelandic chickens. My best friends mother came here from Iceland and she is 86 years old and loves to talk about Icelandic animals. She was so happy when I told her I was getting Icelandic chickens.

Welcome to the thread and to the breed that will make you wonder why you need any other!!

Welcome, I am just starting in Icelandics also, I would love to hear about your hair sheep!

Hi Michelle

I am betting that you will have to take the swing out of the roosts, I could never get any kind of chickens to use ones that wernt solid. Whenever I see chickens roosted in trees its on big branches, not the swaying tips.

Good luck.

I agree - I bet they will use the heck out of it without it swinging.

Kathy works those night shifts and is at times not on for awhile. I hope that's what it is and not because she's been feeling ill!
