It's because that little emu was smiling and posing. The Icelandics are just lovely.

Here are the ones I hatched last week. They went to their new home today.

Laura beautiful babies !! Are these the ones that Robin got?

Kathy its dryer where you are then up here ! We had rain half the day yesterday, but its getting rid of the snow fast now. Sun it was 72 and sunny, our warmest day yet, and beautiful. Its just pretty close to spring here, 50s yesterday and today, I can live nicely with that.

I am figuring where to put temporary pens now so as to get ready for breeding.By the end of April I hope to be able to start saving eggs to incubate.

Mary congrats on the Legbars laying !! Are you incubating any Isbars now? They really are beauties. If, I had room now for another breed it'd be the Flower Hens and the Hedemora. But for now focus has to be on the Icelandics. And I am not sure but what they can equal the other two in color and hardiness. We shall see.

My Icelandic hens are lay good, and I am saving their eggs to set for Mahonri's Hatch a long, I will be dipping all the eggs in Tylan solution in hopes to destroy the disease in the eggs, so I can hatch out clean chicks. I will have the chicks swab tested as soon they hatched. Please pray that will work.


EEEEEEE I am so excited! The emu eggs are on their way!

Jake, yes those went home with Robin yseterday. I no longer have any Icelandics but I will continue to enjoy this thread.

Congratulations on the Emu eggs Daron, enjoy !

I separated my roosters out today, took Bjorn and Isi out from the hens and moved the 3 featherlegged ones in with them. Hopefully by next month they will show some interest in breeding, if not then they will wait til they are interested. In a couple of weeks will sort the bigger white one out , I am not at all sure if the small one will get interested at all, we shall see.

A beautiful spring day today, high 60s, sun, and drying up, spring is here if it wants to stay and welcome if so.
