I'm sorry I don't get what is so funny? Didn't you just indicate that this mutation happened in the U.S.? It doesn't seem to have happened in Iceland, unless you have more information than I do.

In any case, I feel like this has stared to go in circles (like so many former fray discussions)...

Thanks, I finally got the good camera out, I forgot how much better it is than the camera phone.

It's just my opinion, but I believe its traced to the original line brought here. Too much inbreeding/line breeding can exaggerate the good and the bad.

That Korpur sure is cute! We won't have a space for another pooch just yet, I am letting my old Pom enjoy the last good days of his life before getting a pup. I will be keeping an eye on Brekkubrunicelandics

You seem to be acting as if its a disease, its a mutation, it originated with Icelandic Chickens. My uneducated best guess is with Lyle's original small line brought here.

Thanks Mike, I actually looked up our exchange to see exactly what he said: I described a fray issue to him and asked if this was a "known issue" with the Icelandic Landnámshæna in Iceland. He said "not that I know of" but offered that feathers may suffer if the temperature is not right, dust baths are not available or the chick has parasites. Also, he mentioned that light colored feathers are not as tenacious as dark ones and may fall out more easily. He also indicated improper nutrition and harassment

My apologies for any confusion due to the use of that word "most". I should have looked at the message again before posting to confirm my recollection.
