Based on its size, I believe he is a male. The females are bigger.

Years ago one hatched its owlets under the lip of the neighbor's jacuzzi that was on his deck.

They used to get my turkeys roosting in the trees. Took out a 4 year old tom and ate a piece of neck the size of my thumb.
Since I got a "foxlight" I haven't had any losses from owls. A randomly flashing blue,red, white light at night. Supposed to be for foxes but on the game camera I have seen every mammal in my area walk by.

The owl wasn't on his normal branch this morning. The wind chill is really nasty out there. Took awhile but I did find him. He is much better protected and the wind is not rocking him at all.

Not that I am aware of. He spends the day here by himself.
